Shepherd’s House
The Housing arm of PASS:
A Network of Life Affirming Care
Providing housing for young women experiencing pregnancy has always been a top priority at PASS. Many of you recall our Shepherding Program, in which PASS’s staff trained families who wished to house pregnant women, and served as liaisons for them, assuring that house rules were followed, and that young women received the skills and education they needed to succeed in life after the birth of her baby. Since women are 6 times more likely to be physically abused during pregnancy, safe housing must be available as needed.
10 years ago, the Shepherd’s House maternity home opened in New Lenox, and PASS converted all its referrals to this beautiful facility, which provides love, safety and tools for building futures for both mother and child.
This past year Shepherds House merged its ministry into PASS as both ministries strive to deliver the best in life support while being the best stewards possible with the gifts provided.
Ministry Challenges:
Providing support and guidance to young mothers in crisis is an awesome responsibility and quite a privilege and earns us the opportunity to share the Gospel message with these young families – to bring His message to each and every one of the 22,000 unplanned pregnancies in our area.
At Shepherds House, our new ministry “child”, there is much need to strengthen its capacity so that we can serve more young moms.
What a blessing – to offer a sanctuary and nurturing environment – an environment that most of us were blessed with by God – and now… to return that blessing to young girls in need.
The home requires 518 dollars a day to operate. Today
The vision that God has laid on the hearts of PASS leadership calls for expansion of offerings at the house – and how long after the word goes out about true unconditional love and life - that “we” won’t be challenged with growing this ministry as well - again, that’s where our partners come into play.
God reminds us often in His word that He came to give life. Precious life. Abundant life.
Satan came to steal and destroy and kill…
We are asking that you trust Gods promises of abundant life…
Project Legacy is about starting a work that will build on this important ministry, establishing an infrastructure and capacity that will take us through not only the next 25 years but for many more years beyond.
In all the facets of this ordained ministry, there is great need to invest in a foundation that will leave a legacy in its wake…
