Hope and Healing
The restoration arm of PASS: A Network of Life Affirming Care
When you are working in a pregnancy counseling center, about 1/3 of your cases will be women who have had one or more abortions.
Abortions cause trauma and pain to enter the life of the post-abortive woman, and also the man. For many, the pain of loss of the baby is compounded by other severe losses. She mourns the loss of her baby, the loss of her innocence, loss of her relationship with her husband or boyfriend, loss of a dream, and loss of other significant relationships. In trying to deal with these complex losses, she may develop problems with drugs, alcohol, depression, anxiety, anorexia, or bulimia.
Women come to us experience a variety of symptoms of Post Abortion Stress that can break into life unrepentantly; including flashbacks, where she may suddenly relive the abortion, nightmares, suicidal thoughts, irritability or the inability to hear a baby cry. One dear lady told me she was never able to crack an egg to make breakfast for her children, because it would bring back memories of her abortion.
In 1991, Lisa Niebergall raised up a program for those who were experiencing the aftermath of abortion, or those who have experienced abuse, rape, incest; or other significant loss, mourning, or grief. The Hope and Healing program is well named, as it brings Hope and Healing to hearts and souls that are numbed and deadened.
Ministry Challenges:
1 of every 6 woman in the evangelical church is post-abortive. 1 of 6. And for each woman – a man and perhaps an entire family silently suffers as well. One could easily draw the line that 1 of 6 reading this … and that as many men as well – silently suffer.
The body of Christ needs this ministry to wrap its loving-restoring arms around these children of God
“We” need to support the expansion of this important offering – and that requires program, awareness and expansion capital – and a rising up of the partners and the partners we will collectively bring in to aggressively support its growth.
God reminds us often in His word that He came to give life. Precious life. Abundant life.
Satan came to steal and destroy and kill…
We are asking that you trust Gods promises of abundant life…
Project Legacy is about starting a work that will build on this important ministry, establishing an infrastructure and capacity that will take us through not only the next 25 years but for many more years beyond.
In all the facets of this ordained ministry, there is great need to invest in a foundation that will leave a legacy in its wake…
